The Venetian Municipality constructs a bridge of boats from the Fondamenta Nuova to the island (Campo Santo) which is about half a mile. This is done for the religious holiday All Saints' Day so that the inhabitants of Venice can cheaply get to the cemetery to honor their dead without paying
