I was happy to open it to find a bunch of old drawing charcoal inside--and somehow that blackest black inside the olive green tin with black sans serif font feels just right and resonant to me

but I believe this would have been used by a blacksmith doing fine work

I've come across old Magic Lantern slides before

I do imagine quite a lot of found treasures have been stashed inside of this one

It appears to me hair from at least three different people was incorporated--blonde

This is not a hand colored engraving, it is an original, very finely executed ink and watercolor drawing, and my photos do it no justice; the color and detail is just glorious!
