Description

with especially excellent ears on a wheel like head that make it look as if it could walk away if turned upside down

No repairs

there is some wear to the finish on the reverse side in a few spots

with original ink-written "The Cactus" at bottom

with hanging hooks at the top ends of the rear spindles for hanging on the wall--a good one for displaying an arrangement of (not too heavy) carved figures and whimsies and other sorts of treasures

Lady Justice with Scales and Sword, Allegorical Watercolor Signed AHD, 1817 double ball in cage whimsy with especially excellent ears onSuch a beauty and feels very timely, sadly in a very bittersweet sort of way. This is a watercolor, French I would think, signed AHD along the very bottom edge and dated 1817. I would presume done after a late 18th century engraving, though I have not found a definitive source, and emblematic of the allegorical personification of virtues of the period, which also gave rise to many Lady Liberties. Beautifully executed, wonderful bold red to her cape
