This is a high class item, made by HAWKES & CO. LTD. of the famous SAVILE ROW in LONDON as an OFFICER'S Special Order, probably for the Desert Campaign in World War One. Both the liner sweatband and the helmet interior have clear maker marks. There is also the marking Late 14, PICCADILLY, which may indicate 1914 manufacture. There is also a faint size marking of 6 3 4 HULL inside the crown maker mark. The removable
